No Man's Sky: Echoes Update Adds New Autophage Robots, Patch Notes Revealed

No Man's Sky got another of its updates this week with this one called "Echoes" by Hello Games and creator Sean Murray, and it just so happens to be the biggest update that the game's gotten all year. The highlight of the update is a new faction of robots called the "Autophage," a group of alien robots that are made out to be quite mysterious and secretive. Several new missions and other activities have been added that center around them alongside plenty of other features also included in the No Man's Sky: Echoes update that's out today for all platforms.

By assisting the Autophage, you'll unlock new customizations and sites to explore, but you'll have to find them first. Due to the secrecy of the Autophage, their settlements are cloaked, so it won't be as easy as waltzing into their territory, but Hello Games has shares some guidance on how players can track down the Autophage.

The Autophage in the No Man's Sky: Echoes update look different from one another because they're basically pieced together by whatever useful kinds of metals and bits of machinery that the robots can find. While working with Priest Entity Nada, Hello Games said players can embark on "many hours of narrative and adventure" centered around the Autophage.

"Uncover the Autophage, a long-hidden civilisation of robotic beings," a preview of the new, sentient robot faction offered. "With bodies cobbled together from scrap metal and salvaged technology, these wandering constructs appear in a huge variety of styles – from slender pipe-wrought robots to hefty cloth-draped machines."

Autophage replica parts and more are some of the customizations you'll unlock from interacting with the robots after you successfully scan for them nearby areas where they're expected to settle and complete missions centered around them.

Aside from the Autophage robots, the No Man's Sky: Echoes update has its own full set of patch notes to look over. You can find all of those below to see what's new in the game's biggest update of the year:
